Activist Investor Pushes Six Flags to Monetize Land Holdings, Stock Rises 4%
Six Flags Entertainment (FUN) surged 4% on Friday, outpacing the broader market's 0.6% gain, after activist investor Land & Buildings Investment Management urged the company to unlock value from its real estate portfolio. The proposal includes spinning off assets into a REIT or pursuing outright sales—a MOVE the investor claims could deliver up to 130% upside if EBITDA recovers.
Land & Buildings previously argued such a strategy could lift Six Flags' stock by 50%, but now sees even greater potential given the company's depressed valuation. "With the Company's valuation NEAR all-time lows, we see over 75% immediate upside based on 2026 consensus estimates," the firm wrote in a letter to management.
